Eyewitnesses reported that the Israeli occupation forces struck the UNRWA vehicle on Salah al-Din Street, resulting in the deaths and multiple injuries. The attack comes amid continued military operations in Gaza, which has been under heavy bombardment for over two weeks.
Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of UNRWA, had earlier called for an immediate humanitarian truce in northern Gaza, which has been under siege for more than two weeks.
"People in northern Gaza are just waiting for death, bodies are lying on the roads or under the rubble, and missions to remove them or provide humanitarian assistance are being refused," Lazzarini stated.
Lazzarini highlighted the dire situation faced by civilians and aid workers, adding that UNRWA staff in northern Gaza are unable to access basic necessities such as food, water, or medical care.
The attack is part of a broader escalation in violence as Israeli forces continue their operations across the Gaza Strip, intensifying the humanitarian crisis in the region. (ILKHA)
