Türkiye's Industry Minister vows to safeguard workers' buying power amid inflation concerns

Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, has reassured the public that the government is committed to protecting the buying purchasing power of Turkish citizens amidst rising inflation.

During a recent televised interview, Kacır acknowledged that the minimum wage has played a role in fueling inflation. However, he assured viewers that the government will carefully consider both actual inflation rates and forecasts when making decisions about future wage adjustments.

Kacır emphasized the importance of collaboration between employers and labor sectors to address the issue of inflation. He noted that various factors, including the need to prevent unemployment from rising, will be taken into account. The minister expressed appreciation for Türk-Is President's recent suggestion to postpone discussions on wage increases, recognizing the cautious approach.

Kacır reiterated that all stakeholders are working together to protect Türkiye's competitiveness and the purchasing power of its citizens.
