Turkish Coast Guard rescues 89 migrants pushed back by Greek authorities

Turkish Coast Guard Command teams rescued 89 irregular migrants, including 35 children, who were reportedly pushed back by Greek authorities off the coasts of Izmir and Muğla.

Upon receiving information about rubber boats carrying migrants in distress, the Coast Guard dispatched rescue teams to the region. The migrants, who had been forced back by Greek elements, were successfully brought to safety.

In separate operations, a total of 72 irregular migrants, including 45 children, were intercepted in rubber boats off the coasts of Aydın and Izmir.

During the operation in Izmir's Çeşme district, authorities arrested one suspect involved in migrant smuggling.

Following the rescue and arrest, the irregular migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for further processing. (ILKHA)
