The state is preparing for a significant impact from the storm, which is expected to be the most destructive hurricane to hit the Tampa Bay area in over a century. DeSantis declared a state of emergency for 51 counties, and authorities have been working to evacuate healthcare facilities and nursing homes in vulnerable areas.

The National Guard's response includes a wide range of assets, such as tactical vehicles, high water vehicles, aerial and ground search and rescue teams, and maritime crews. The U.S. Army North has also deployed personnel and equipment to assist with relief efforts.

Officials at MacDill Air Force Base, which was severely impacted by Hurricane Helene, have ordered a widespread evacuation. The Navy is also taking precautionary measures to protect its assets.

As Hurricane Milton continues to intensify, Florida is bracing for a major storm event and is working diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents. (ILKHA)
