Lavrov underscored the importance of involving Afghanistan in regional dialogues and reiterated his country's commitment to maintaining political and economic engagement with the country.

During his remarks, Lavrov emphasized the need to unfreeze Afghanistan's Central Bank reserves, stating that cooperation with Afghanistan should not be contingent upon other political considerations. He also highlighted Russia's interest in bolstering relations in various sectors, particularly agriculture, mining, and transportation, noting that Russian companies are eager to invest in these areas.

Lavrov further pointed out the potential of Afghanistan in the region’s economic development, stressing that the country can play a pivotal role in enhancing regional connectivity, especially in light of recent geopolitical changes.

His statements came following the Moscow Format meeting hosted by Russia, which gathered representatives from Afghanistan's neighboring countries and other regional stakeholders to discuss the evolving situation in Afghanistan and its broader implications. (ILKHA)
