Global leaders condemn Israeli attacks on Lebanon, warn of regional war

As Israeli attacks on Lebanon continue to intensify, international condemnation has grown, with leaders from across the globe warning of the potential for a full-scale regional war.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry voiced deep concern over the deteriorating security situation in Lebanon, warning of the severe consequences for regional stability if the violence continues. It called for restraint from all parties and emphasized the importance of preserving Lebanon’s sovereignty and security, urging the international community to intervene.

Jordan’s King Abdullah II reiterated his country's support for Lebanon’s security and sovereignty, stressing the need to halt Israeli aggression before it spirals into a broader regional conflict. During a phone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, the King called for an immediate end to the war on Gaza as a necessary first step towards de-escalating the situation in Lebanon and across the region.

Qatar strongly condemned the Israeli aggression, attributing the ongoing escalation to the absence of international accountability for Israel's actions. The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the region is being pushed toward disaster and urged the global community to take swift action to end the violence. Qatar also reaffirmed its support for Lebanon’s unity and territorial integrity.

The UAE expressed deep concern about the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, highlighting the potential repercussions for regional security. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for international cooperation to stop the fighting and protect civilians. The UAE emphasized the need for diplomatic solutions to prevent further escalation and ensure stability.

The Syrian Social Nationalist Party condemned the Israeli assault, asserting that the war is an effort to subjugate the resistance, but it will ultimately result in the victory of Lebanon and its people. The party also praised the solidarity shown by displaced communities and expressed its readiness to continue its humanitarian and national efforts.

Venezuela denounced the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, describing them as part of a broader effort to provoke conflict in the region. It warned of the potential for a large-scale war and emphasized the devastating humanitarian crisis resulting from the aggression, including mass displacement in Lebanon.

European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell expressed grave concerns about the escalating conflict, stating that the situation is nearing a full-scale war. As Lebanon reports over 492 civilians killed, including 35 children, France has called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to address the escalating crisis.

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi condemned the indiscriminate attacks on civilians in Lebanon and called for immediate efforts to stop the violence. Speaking from New York, Wang affirmed China’s support for Lebanon and urged all parties to focus on de-escalation and the protection of civilians.
