The accident occurred in Yazd province while the bus was traveling between the cities of Bushehr and Mashhad.
State television reported that the bus overturned, leading to the fatalities and injuries. The exact number of passengers on board was not immediately disclosed.
Iran has a history of road accidents, with over 20,000 deaths recorded in the year to March, according to the judiciary’s Legal Medicine Organization.
This incident marks the second major bus crash in Iran within a month. In August, a bus carrying Pakistani pilgrims crashed, killing 28 people, while another crash days later resulted in three deaths and 48 injuries. (ILKHA)
