Türkiye’s paid employment rises by 3.4% annually in July

The number of paid employees in Türkiye increased by 3.4% in July 2024 compared to the same period last year, according to a statement released by the Turkish Statistical Institute on Monday.

The total number of paid employees across the industry, construction, and trade-services sectors rose from 15.37 million in July 2023 to 15.89 million in July 2024.

Breaking down the data by sector, the construction industry saw the largest annual growth, with an 8.6% increase in the number of paid employees. The trade-services sector experienced a 4.3% rise, while the industrial sector remained unchanged year-on-year.

The report also highlighted a 0.7% monthly increase in paid employment between June and July 2024. The industrial sector saw a 0.9% rise, the construction sector increased by 1.0%, and the trade-services sector grew by 0.6% during this period.

This steady growth in employment reflects resilience across key sectors of the Turkish economy, particularly in construction and services. (ILKHA)
