Eygi's coffin, draped in the Turkish flag, was first flown from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv to Baku, Azerbaijan, before being transported to Istanbul on a Turkish Airlines flight early Friday morning. Upon arrival, a military honor guard carried the coffin during an official ceremony at Istanbul Airport’s VIP lounge.

Following the ceremony, Eygi’s body was transferred to Izmir, where she will be laid to rest in Aydin.

US and Palestinian officials earlier confirmed that Eygi, 26, was killed during protests opposing Israeli settlement expansion last Friday. The Israeli military admitted to firing at protesters but claimed their shots were directed at a different target.

Eygi's death has sparked outrage and further highlighted the ongoing violence and tensions surrounding Israeli settlement activities in the West Bank. (ILKHA)
