Likhachev, speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum, assured reporters that the plant's remaining functioning unit is crucial for energy supply to the region and will only be shut down as a last resort if the situation deteriorates.

Despite the challenges, Rosatom has implemented robust security measures to protect the NPP from potential attacks. The plant is considered a major node in Russia's unified energy system and is undergoing a modernization process with the construction of Kursk NPP-2.

The Eastern Economic Forum, held in Vladivostok, is a prominent international conference focused on promoting economic development in Russia's Far East region. (ILKHA)
