The attack, which claimed the lives of women and children, is the latest in a series of deadly assaults in the region.

Barsalogho, located near the town of Kaya in north-central Burkina Faso, is strategically significant as it houses the last remaining military force between armed groups and the nation's capital, Ouagadougou. Several soldiers are reported missing following the attack, according to local sources.

Burkinabe Communication Minister Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo strongly condemned the assault, describing it as a "barbaric and cowardly attack against women, children, and the elderly without distinction." The minister urged citizens to unite and support national efforts against attempts to destabilize Burkina Faso.

The total number of casualties has yet to be confirmed, and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The incident underscores the ongoing security challenges faced by Burkina Faso as it battles armed groups operating in the region. (ILKHA)
