Afghanistan and Türkiye discuss enhanced agricultural cooperation

Afghanistan's Acting Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, Mawlawi Ataullah Omari, met with Türkiye's Chargé d’Affaires to Afghanistan, Cenk Ünal, on Wednesday to explore potential areas of cooperation in the agricultural sector.

Minister Omari outlined opportunities for collaboration in Afghanistan's agriculture, irrigation, livestock, natural resources, and land management sectors. He emphasized the importance of joint efforts between the two nations to enhance these vital areas.

Ambassador Ünal expressed Turkey's strong interest in expanding its partnership with Afghanistan, particularly in vegetable cultivation, irrigation systems, fertilizer distribution, and agricultural product quarantine. He also announced Turkey's commitment to organizing training programs aimed at building the capacity of Afghan farmers.

The discussions also included the potential implementation of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing technologies to improve the monitoring and management of agricultural lands in Afghanistan. Both sides expressed optimism about the future of agricultural cooperation between the two countries. (ILKHA)
