Bus crash in Iran's Yazd Province claims 28 lives, 23 injured

A tragic bus accident in Taft County, Yazd Province, has resulted in the deaths of 28 Pakistani pilgrims and injuries to 23 others, according to Mohammad Ali Malekzadeh, Director General of Crisis Management for Yazd Province.

The accident occurred at 9:54 PM on Tuesday night when the bus, carrying 51 passengers on their way to Iraq for the Arbaeen pilgrimage, overturned in Taft County.

Malekzadeh reported that 14 of the injured are in critical condition, with six having been discharged from local hospitals. The remaining injured are receiving treatment in hospitals in Abarkuh, Taft, and Yazd.

The bodies of the deceased have been transferred to the forensic office for investigation. Nine doctors are currently examining the victims to determine the cause of death.

The Yazd Governorate, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is coordinating efforts to transport both the injured and deceased back to Pakistan. (ILKHA)
