Of this number, 6.5 million are internally displaced, while 811,000 are refugees. The humanitarian crisis is particularly acute in the Sahel region and the Lake Chad basin, where ongoing military conflicts have exacerbated the situation.

Tchintchibidja called on the international community to support ECOWAS' efforts to assist refugees and stateless persons, with the regional bloc allocating approximately $9 million for relief efforts. (ILKHA)
