Türkiye's industrial production declines by 4.7% annually in June

The Turkish Statistical Institute reported on Friday that Türkiye's industrial production fell by 4.7% in June 2024 compared to the same month of the previous year.

An analysis of the industry's subsectors, using the 2021 index as a baseline, revealed mixed performance. The mining and quarrying index showed a robust increase of 8.6%, while the manufacturing index experienced a significant decline of 6.9%. Additionally, the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply index surged by 15.2% compared to June 2023.

On a monthly basis, industrial production also saw a decline of 2.1% from May 2024 to June 2024. Within the subsectors, the mining and quarrying index rose by 1.8%, while the manufacturing index dropped by 3.1%. Meanwhile, the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply index increased by 7.8% during the same period.

These figures highlight ongoing challenges in Türkiye's industrial sector, particularly in manufacturing, amidst fluctuating performance across different subsectors. (ILKHA)
