Over 10,000 Palestinian students killed and thousands injured amid ongoing Israeli genocide

The Ministry of Education reported a devastating toll on students and educational institutions as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank since October 7, 2023.

According to the Ministry's statement, approximately 10,043 students have been killed, and 16,423 have been injured. In the Gaza Strip alone, over 9,936 students have lost their lives, and 15,897 have been injured. In the West Bank, 107 students have been killed, and 526 have been injured.

The conflict has also severely impacted educators, with 504 teachers and administrators killed and 3,426 injured across both territories. Additionally, more than 117 educators have been detained in the West Bank.

The educational infrastructure has been significantly damaged: 119 government schools in the Gaza Strip have been severely damaged, and over 62 have been completely destroyed. Moreover, 191 schools, including those operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), have been bombed or vandalized. Around 20 universities in Gaza have suffered severe damage, with more than 31 buildings completely destroyed and 57 partially destroyed.

In the West Bank, 69 schools have been vandalized, and five universities have been repeatedly raided.

The Ministry also reported that over 620,000 students in the Gaza Strip have been unable to attend school, including 39,000 high school students. The ongoing aggression has left many students grappling with psychological trauma and dire health conditions. (ILKHA)
