In a statement issued on Monday, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, condemned the ongoing devastation and the resulting humanitarian crisis.
Borrell emphasized the EU's deep concern about Israel's continuous targeting of critical infrastructure in Gaza, specifically noting the damage to a water treatment plant in Rafah. He highlighted that the deteriorating situation is aggravating the spread of epidemics and infections among civilians, with children being particularly affected.
"The European Union is extremely concerned about Israel's relentless damage to essential civilian infrastructure in Gaza," Borrell stated. "The worsening humanitarian crisis is exacerbating the spread of diseases, especially among vulnerable populations like children."
The statement underscores the urgent need for measures to protect civilian infrastructure and improve the humanitarian conditions in Gaza. The EU calls for an immediate halt to the destruction and urges all parties to prioritize the well-being of civilians. (ILKHA)
