"This action was designed and implemented by the Zionist regime and supported by the criminal government of America," the statement read.

According to IRGC investigations, the assassination was executed by firing a short-range projectile with a warhead of about 7 kilograms, which caused a strong explosion, from outside the area of Haniyeh's accommodation.

The IRGC emphasized its intention to avenge Haniyeh's death, stating that the "terrorist Zionist regime would definitely face severe punishment at the appropriate time and place."

Ismail Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed when their residence in Tehran was targeted on Wednesday, according to the IRGC's statement.

The assassination has heightened tensions, with the IRGC vowing retaliation and condemning the involvement of both Israel and the United States in the operation. (ILKHA)
