The rescue operation began when the Coast Guard received information about a group of irregular migrants in life rafts off the coast of Çeşme. A Coast Guard ship was dispatched, and 66 migrants, including 17 children, were rescued from life rafts that had been pushed back into Turkish territorial waters by Greek elements.
In a separate incident off the coast of Seferihisar, the Coast Guard rescued 28 irregular migrants, including 8 children, from a rubber boat that had also been pushed back by Greek elements.
All rescued migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for processing. (ILKHA)
