Afghanistan's international trade reaches $5.2 billion in first half of 2024

Afghanistan's Ministry of Industry and Commerce reported that the country conducted trade worth $5.237 billion with various nations from January to June 2024.

Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad, the ministry's spokesperson, highlighted that Afghanistan exported nearly $700 million during this period, with $58 million in exports directed to Central Asian countries alone. Jawad mentioned ongoing efforts to further increase export volumes this year.

"Trade between Afghanistan and Central Asian countries continued normally during the first six months of 2024, with exports and imports amounting to $629 million. Of this, approximately $58 million were exports and $571 million were imports," Jawad stated.

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce also noted that in the solar year 1402, Afghanistan achieved exports worth $2 billion. The primary export destinations included Pakistan, India, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, and Iran. (ILKHA)
