The bill, introduced by the HÜDA PAR party, is currently making its way through the Turkish parliament.
The bill, which foresees the revocation of citizenship and confiscation of assets of dual citizens escaping justice for participating in the genocide, is expected to be on the General Assembly agenda next week.
In a written statement, the Islamic Brotherhood and Solidarity Platform announced their support for HÜDA PAR’s bill, emphasizing their stance against the atrocities in Gaza.
"We Cannot Turn a Blind Eye to Gaza's Atrocities"
The platform stated: "Israel is violating the most fundamental principles of international law in Gaza. The human rights violations and oppression of civilians in Gaza wound the conscience of all humanity. Today and in the future, we will maintain our sensitivity and determination against oppressions and pressures in our country and around the world. As civil society organizations, our stance is clear: we stand by the oppressed and oppose injustices. Therefore, it is absolutely impossible for us to turn a blind eye to the atrocities and human drama in Gaza."
"Immediate Acceptance of the Bill in Parliament Demanded"
Highlighting their support for the bill submitted by HÜDA PAR MPs to the Parliament for the trial of Turkish citizens who are Zionist perpetrators of genocide, the platform stated: "It is evident that some so-called citizens who support Zionist policies and act in accordance with these policies are complicit in the oppression in Gaza and support the occupation regime. This situation contradicts our country's core values and commitment to human rights. Our state has the responsibility to take necessary steps against individuals involved in such actions, in a manner respectful of international law and human rights. In this context, we support the bill submitted by HÜDA PAR MPs for the revocation of citizenship of those who support Zionism and demand the immediate acceptance of the bill in the Parliament for the trial of the Zionists. The citizenship rights of those who openly support Zionism and participate in this oppression should be reviewed."
"We Do Not Want Oppressors in Our Country"
The platform demanded unconditional support from all MPs in the Parliament for the bill on revoking the citizenship of dual citizens, stating: "We demand unconditional support from all MPs in the Parliament for the bill on the trial of perpetrators of genocide and crimes against humanity in Gaza, and for the revocation of citizenship of dual citizens involved in genocide. While such atrocities occur in Gaza, with children and innocent civilians being killed every day, and mothers' tears and cries shaking the heavens, we do not want oppressors who join the ranks of the occupation regime in our country. How can granting citizenship to the soldiers of Zionism in a Muslim country be justified by reason or conscience? Is it not a trampling of the principles of brotherhood, human rights, and justice?"
Platform's Expectations
Finally, the platform outlined their expectations:
- All political parties in the Parliament should embrace and support the bill.
- Turkish citizens who join the ranks of the occupation regime should be prosecuted.
- With the support of the Parliament and the public for this law, it should be declared to the world once again that Turkey stands with the oppressed and opposes oppression.
In conclusion, allowing those who support the atrocities in Gaza to remain as Turkish citizens harms the values and honor of our country. The platform calls on the authorities and all conscientious citizens to take necessary steps in this regard and to take a clear stance against those complicit in the oppression. (ILKHA)
