Several activists breached security fences and glued themselves to the tarmac, blocking runways. The airport advised passengers to check their flight status before traveling and to avoid coming to the airport for the time being.

The disruption comes a day after Cologne-Bonn Airport, the country's sixth-largest, experienced a similar situation with a multi-hour flight suspension due to a climate protest.

The activist group, Last Generation, is demanding the German government support a global agreement to phase out fossil fuels by 2030. Their actions follow similar protests at European airports, including Heathrow Airport in London. (ILKHA)
