Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani has issued a strong condemnation of Israel’s recent airstrikes on Yemen, characterizing them as a consequence of Yemen’s support for Palestinians in Gaza.

Kanaani criticized the Israeli attacks on Yemen’s western port city of Hodeidah, calling them indicative of Israel’s “aggressive nature” and its history of harming innocent civilians.

In a statement released on Saturday, Kanaani denounced the continued killing of civilians in Gaza as the root cause of regional tensions. He emphasized that peace in the region cannot be achieved while Israeli aggression against Palestinians, particularly in Gaza, persists.

Kanaani warned that further escalation and the spread of conflict in the region could result from what he termed “Zionists’ dangerous adventurism.” He held both the Israeli regime and its supporters, including the United States, accountable for the potential “unpredictable and dangerous consequences” stemming from ongoing crimes in Gaza and attacks on Yemen.

The Israeli airstrikes on Hodeidah occurred on Saturday, following a drone attack by Yemen on Tel Aviv the previous day, which resulted in one death and ten injuries. Yemen has stated that its Tel Aviv attack was part of a broader campaign, initiated in mid-November, to support Palestinians in Gaza.

Yemen has vowed to continue its support for Gaza until Israel ceases its military actions and lifts its blockade on the Palestinian territory. (ILKHA)
