The natural disaster struck suddenly on Monday afternoon, causing significant fatalities and extensive financial damage in Jalalabad, the provincial capital, as well as Sukh Rod District and surrounding areas near the Pakistan border.
Meanwhile, in eastern Afghanistan's Kunar province, five people lost their lives due to flash floods that swept through the region on Monday morning.
Since May, heavy rains and flooding have claimed over 400 lives and displaced thousands in the conflict-affected nation. (ILKHA)
