Türkiye's industrial production sees slight annual dip in May

The Turkish Statistical Institute reported on Wednesday that industrial production in Türkiye experienced a slight annual decrease of 0.1% in May.

According to the data, the mining and quarrying sector saw a notable increase with an index rise of 2.2% compared to the same month last year. However, the manufacturing sector recorded a decline of 0.4%, and the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sector showed a modest increase of 0.9%.

On a monthly basis, industrial production showed a more positive trend, increasing by 1.7% in May 2024 compared to April of the same year. During this period, the mining and quarrying sector saw a decrease with an index drop of 3.9%. Conversely, the manufacturing sector increased by 2.1%, and the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sector rose by 1.0%.

The data highlights a mixed performance across different industrial subsectors, reflecting ongoing dynamics within Turkey's industrial landscape. (ILKHA)
