According to the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, its fighters detonated anti-personnel landmines in Tel al-Hawa, a neighborhood southwest of Gaza City. The explosions reportedly resulted in the deaths and injuries of multiple Israeli soldiers.

The group added that another landmine explosion targeted a six-strong Israeli military force in the same area, causing further casualties. Additionally, two Israeli military bulldozers were reportedly destroyed in roadside explosions west of Tel al-Hawa.

Hamas also claimed responsibility for targeting four Israeli tanks with anti-tank shells in the Shejaiya neighborhood, located east of Gaza City.

The attacks come amid growing international condemnation of Israel's ongoing military offensive on Gaza, which began following an October 7, 2023, attack by Hamas. Despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire, the conflict has continued unabated.

Local health authorities report that more than 38,200 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have been killed since the conflict began, with over 88,000 others injured. The prolonged blockade of Gaza has led to severe shortages of food, clean water, and medicine, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

Israel faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice. The court's latest ruling ordered Israel to halt its military operations in Rafah, where over a million Palestinians had sought refuge before the city was invaded on May 6.

As the conflict enters its ninth month, large swathes of Gaza lie in ruins, and the international community continues to call for an end to the violence. (ILKHA)
