Chanting "Gaza is not alone," demonstrators, representing leftist parties and Islamic movements, marched through the coastal city following reports of an Israeli ship docking at Tangier port last month, reportedly arriving from the United States.

Moroccan authorities have not confirmed these reports.

The protests on Sunday also demanded that Morocco cut ties with Israel. Morocco established diplomatic relations with Israel in late 2020 under the US-brokered Abraham Accords, a move similar to agreements made by the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. In exchange, the US recognized Morocco's sovereignty over Western Sahara, a territory in dispute.

Since the Gaza genocide began in October, multiple demonstrations have occurred across Morocco.

While Rabat has officially denounced what it described as "flagrant violations of international law" by Israel during its conflict with Hamas, there has been no indication of any plans to reverse the normalization of relations with Israel. (ILKHA)
