Stampede at religious event in India kills 107

A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday in Hathras district, Uttar Pradesh, where a stampede during a religious gathering, or "satsang," claimed the lives of 107 people.

According to reports, a large crowd had gathered for a satsang organized by the Manav Mangal Milan Sadbhavna Samagam Committee for a self-proclaimed godman, Narayan Sakar Hari, also known as Sakar Vishwa Hari or Bhole Baba.

Indian officials confirmed that a stampede broke out at the event, resulting in the deaths of 107 individuals, including women and children. The deceased were transported to hospitals in both Hathras and the neighboring Etah district.

Chaitra V, Commissioner of Aligarh, confirmed the death toll and specified that 27 victims originated from Etah. Additionally, approximately 18 people sustained injuries during the stampede.

Senior police officer Rajesh Kumar Singh informed the media that the stampede occurred at the aforementioned satsang within a village in Hathras. (ILKHA)
