United States: Three dead, eleven wounded in Arkansas grocery store shooting

A tragic shooting at a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas, on Friday morning resulted in three fatalities and eleven injuries, including the suspect and two law enforcement officers, according to the Arkansas State Police (ASP).

The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. at the Mad Butcher grocery store, part of a regional chain, located at 920 W. 4th Street in a small shopping center. Fordyce, with a population of 3,238 as of 2022, is situated about an hour south of Little Rock in Dallas County.

ASP Director Mike Hagar, speaking at an afternoon press conference near the scene, stated that the suspect and the injured law enforcement officers are not in life-threatening condition. The remaining victims' conditions range from non-life-threatening to "extremely critical," Hagar added.

The suspected shooter has been identified as Travis Posey. Hagar did not release the identities of any of the deceased or other wounded individuals during the 4 p.m. press conference but reassured the community that there is no continued threat.

“It’s tragic, our hearts are broken,” Hagar said, expressing the community's grief over the incident.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the tragic event. (ILKHA)
