12 killed in attacks on villages in Nigeria's Benue and Kaduna states

The latest violence occurred in the Katsina-Ala region of Benue, where an unidentified armed group targeted a community.  Reports indicate 12 people, including one woman, were killed in the attack.

According to Jonathan Agbidye, Member of Parliament for the Katsina-Ala region, the attack resulted in the deaths of 12 people, including one woman. Many others were reported injured, with several individuals also abducted during the raid. Additionally, the assailants reportedly looted food supplies from local residents.

Kidnapping for ransom remains a serious problem in Nigeria, despite the existence of capital punishment for the crime.  Gunmen frequently target villages, schools, and travelers in the north, demanding ransoms for their release. (ILKHA)
