The attack, involving an unmanned surface vessel (USV), multiple drones, and ballistic missiles, reportedly inflicted severe damage on the vessel, leaving it at risk of sinking.
Saree stated that the operation was a response to the ship’s owning company violating the YAF's ban on entry into ports of occupied Palestine. The attack resulted in significant damage to the ship's engine room, causing it to lose command and take on water.
Maritime security firms and shipping sources confirmed the incident, noting that a Greek-owned cargo ship had been struck by a small craft off Yemen's Red Sea port of Hodeidah. The vessel, flying under a Liberian flag, was hit about 67.7 nautical miles southwest of Hodeidah. British security firm Ambrey remarked that the attack mirrored previous strikes attributed to the Yemeni Armed Forces. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that a small white craft collided with the ship's stern, and a Greek shipping ministry source added that the vessel had also faced aerial attacks.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the attack, citing severe flooding and damage to the engine room caused by the USV. CENTCOM's statement echoed reports from the shipmaster, who indicated that the vessel was not under the command of its crew and was taking on water.
In addition to the maritime attack, Saree disclosed that the YAF had conducted two joint operations with the Islamic Resistance in Iraq. These operations targeted strategic sites in occupied territories, with the first strike hitting a vital location in Idud with winged missiles and the second operation attacking a key site in Haifa using drones. Saree affirmed that both missions achieved their objectives.
Saree issued a stern warning to companies against dealing with the Israeli occupation entity and navigating ships to the ports of occupied Palestine. He stressed that non-compliance would result in ships being targeted within the YAF's operational area, as previously announced.
Saree reiterated the YAF's commitment to continuing military operations in support of the Palestinian cause and in retaliation against American-British aggression on Yemen until the aggression ceases and the siege on Gaza is lifted. Meanwhile, U.S. and U.K. forces targeted a governmental facility in the al-Gabin district and a radio station in the Ramyah governorate of Yemen. The attack resulted in injuries to five civilians, including one critically, and caused significant material damage.
The situation remains tense as the conflict in the region persists, with continued implications for maritime security and broader geopolitical dynamics. (ILKHA)
