The attacks have severely impacted medical facilities and personnel struggling to cope with the influx of critically injured patients.
MSF teams have been working alongside medical staff at Al-Aqsa and Nasser hospitals to provide care for numerous patients, a significant number of whom are women and children. Samuel Johann, MSF coordinator in Gaza, described the conditions at Al-Aqsa Hospital as a “nightmare.” He questioned the international community's inaction, asking, “How many more men, women, and children have to be killed before world leaders decide to put an end to this massacre?” Johann emphasized that the situation is overwhelming for the hospitals, which are already operating with limited resources.
Chris Hook, an MSF medical referent, shared a voice note from Gaza highlighting the severity of the mass casualty incident. He reported that in a single hour, nearly 50 badly injured patients were received. Hook pointed out the critical lack of resources, including the inability to perform essential CT scans, forcing patients to be transferred to other hospitals.
Karin Huster, another MSF medical representative, provided further insights into the chaotic conditions at Al-Aqsa Hospital. She described the scene as “total chaos,” with the emergency room zones completely packed with patients. Huster urged the international community to intervene, condemning the bombings as unjustifiable. “There is nothing, nothing at all that justifies what I saw today. Why did they [the innocent civilians] deserve this? And why is the world looking on in silence?” she asked, calling for an end to the violence.
The MSF’s urgent appeals underscore the desperate need for international action to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, as medical facilities are pushed to their limits amid ongoing conflict. (ILKHA)
