Türkiye expects permanent decline in inflation starting in June

According to Şimşek, the worst is now behind Türkiye, and the focus is on achieving price stability.

In May, Türkiye witnessed its highest annual inflation rate, reflecting the cumulative effects of the past year. However, the minister believes that this peak marks the end of the transition period in the fight against inflation and signals the beginning of the disinflation process.

“The permanent decline in inflation will commence in June. By the end of the third quarter, we expect annual inflation to fall below 50 percent,” Şimşek wrote in a statement on X.

Market forecasts align with this projection, anticipating inflation rates of 33.2 percent after 12 months and 21.3 percent after 24 months.

The minister emphasized the importance of fiscal discipline in supporting the disinflation process. He acknowledged that achieving price stability requires patience and determination, but Türkiye remains committed to reaching its target.
