The mass displacement has occurred under dire conditions, with civilians having nowhere safe to go amidst ongoing bombardments, severe shortages of food and water, and unsanitary living environments.

UNRWA emphasized the increasing difficulty of providing essential assistance and protection, describing the situation as nearly "impossible" to manage. The agency's statement comes in the wake of a devastating attack by Israeli occupation forces on the evening of May 26, which targeted a group of displaced persons sheltering in UNRWA warehouses in Rafah.

The Government Media Office of Gaza confirmed that the Israeli forces carried out a concentrated and deliberate bombing on a center for forcibly displaced individuals in the northwest of Rafah Governorate. The center, considered a safe zone, was hit with more than seven missiles and large bombs, each containing over 2,000 pounds of explosives.

This violent attack resulted in the deaths of dozens of people and caused numerous injuries, some of which are critical. The Government Media Office indicated that the number of casualties is expected to rise as the full extent of the devastation becomes clear.

The international community has condemned the attack, with UNRWA and other humanitarian organizations calling for immediate measures to protect civilians and ensure the delivery of vital aid to the affected population in Gaza. (ILKHA)
