Iran releases initial report on President Raeisi’s fatal helicopter crash

The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces has published its first report on the helicopter crash that resulted in the death of President Ebrahim Raeisi and his delegation.

The crash, which occurred on Sunday in northwestern Iran, also claimed the lives of Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other officials.

The report, released on Thursday, detailed the investigation's progress and findings regarding the tragic incident. According to Press TV, an investigative team was dispatched to the crash site on Monday, and they have gathered significant information to determine the causes of the crash.

The helicopter, which was following its planned route, crashed into a mountainous area and caught fire. The investigative team reported that the wreckage showed no signs of bullet holes or similar impacts, ruling out an attack as the cause. Communications between the aircraft and ground control prior to the crash did not contain any suspicious content.

The crash site was located by Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles at 05:00 a.m. local time on Monday, with search teams arriving shortly thereafter. The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces stated that further findings would be shared with the public as the investigation continues. (ILKHA)
