In a statement posted on social media platform X, Petro emphasized Netanyahu's failure to halt what he described as genocide, asserting the necessity for ICC intervention.

Petro also called upon the UN Security Council to consider the establishment of a peacekeeping force in Gaza, which has been subjected to relentless Israeli aggression.

Colombia has formally announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Israel in response to its continuous attacks on Palestinians in Gaza.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have engaged in a devastating genocide in Gaza, resulting in tens of thousands of casualties, including martyrs, wounded individuals, and missing persons. The genocide has displaced two million people and caused extensive destruction to homes and infrastructure, affecting over 70% of buildings. The region is also grappling with a severe humanitarian crisis, including famine, particularly in Gaza and its northern areas. (ILKHA)
