Ismail Haneyya, the head of Hamas's political bureau, held a crucial phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, conveying Hamas's acceptance of the proposed ceasefire mediated by intermediaries.
President Erdogan welcomed the decision by Hamas, stressing the importance of Israel taking tangible steps towards a sustainable ceasefire. Hamas earlier announced its acceptance of the ceasefire proposal mediated by Egyptian and Qatari intermediaries.
According to a statement released by Hamas, Ismail Haneyya also spoke with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani and Egyptian Minister of Intelligence Abbas Kamel, informing them of Hamas's approval of the proposed ceasefire agreement.
