Turkish police crack down on online child abuse, arrest 156 suspects

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced a significant breakthrough in the fight against online child obscenity and harassment with the arrest of 156 suspects across 77 provinces.

The operation, named "SIBERGÖZ-37", was orchestrated by the Department of Combating Cyber Crimes of the General Directorate of Security.

Cities like Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir were part of the operation targeting individuals involved in downloading child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, in a social media statement, credited international collaborations with organizations like the Child Protection System (CPS) and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) for the operation's success. 

The arrests signify a significant step forward in Türkiye’s fight against online child exploitation and underscore the nation's commitment to international cooperation on this critical issue. (ILKHA)
