During the meeting, President Mohamud commended Türkiye for its ongoing support in advancing security and stability initiatives in Somalia. He emphasized the Somali government's commitment to fostering collaboration with Türkiye, particularly in areas such as counterterrorism efforts and bolstering regional peace and stability.

Also present at the meeting was Abdullahi Mohamed Ali, the director of the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency.

Türkiye enjoys a close and strategic partnership with Somalia, highlighted by Türkiye's establishment of the largest military base in Africa, situated in Mogadishu. Recently, the two nations inked a significant agreement granting Türkiye the responsibility to construct a navy for Somalia and oversee maritime security along Somalia's extensive coastline - the longest in Africa - for a duration of 10 years.

This agreement underscores the critical importance of safeguarding Somalia's valuable oil resources and unlocking its blue economy potential in the region. Türkiye's expanding presence in Somalia reflects the deep-seated friendship between the two countries.

Both parties have reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including security, defense, and economic development, with the aim of fostering enduring stability and prosperity in the Horn of Africa region. (ILKHA)
