Yemeni military spokesperson Yehya Sariee announced the operations in a televised address. He stated that Yemeni forces targeted the Israeli cargo ship "Cyclades" in the Red Sea, which they had previously blacklisted for allegedly violating a Yemeni ban on ships traveling to Israeli-occupied ports.

Sariee further claimed drone strikes on two US warships in the Red Sea and another Israeli cargo ship, the "MSC Orion," in the Indian Ocean. He characterized all attacks as successful.

In response, the US Central Command announced via social media that it had intercepted five Houthi drones in the Red Sea on Sunday.

Sariee reiterated Yemen's stance of continuing attacks in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean until Israel ceases its "aggression" against Gaza. The Houthis began targeting international shipping in November 2023 in an effort to pressure an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. (ILKHA)
