Subianto, the current Defense Minister, secured 58.59% of the total valid votes, defeating former Jakarta Gov. Anies Baswedan and former Central Java Gov. Ganjar Pranowo in last month's presidential election.

In his victory speech, Subianto expressed gratitude for the mandate bestowed upon him by the Indonesian people, emphasizing the challenges ahead and the need for unity. He is set to be inaugurated on October 20, with Gibran Rakabuming, Jokowi's eldest son, as vice president.

While Subianto secured a majority in 36 provinces, Baswedan won in Aceh and West Sumatra, while Pranowo did not win any. Subianto's victory marks a significant shift in Indonesia's political landscape, with implications for the nation's domestic and international policies. (ILKHA)
