In a statement on social media platform X, Amir-Abdollahian criticized the EU for imposing additional illegal restrictions on Iran in response to Iran's exercise of its right to self-defense against what he termed as the "reckless aggression" of the Israeli regime.

"The EU should not follow Washington’s advice to satisfy the criminal Israeli regime," he emphasized.

Amir-Abdollahian expressed regret that while the Israeli regime continues its actions against Palestinians, including what he described as "genocide," the EU's response has been limited to "hollow words." He urged the EU to act responsibly and impose sanctions on Israel.

The statement comes in the wake of an Israeli attack on Iran's consulate in Damascus on April 1, which resulted in casualties among Iranian military advisors. In response, Iran launched a retaliatory attack on Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories with drones and missiles.

Iran clarified that it aimed to punish the Zionist regime with its actions and warned of severe responses to any further Israeli aggression. (ILKHA)
