Bogdanivka, which is located less than three kilometers northeast of the Ukrainian-held town of Chasiv Yar, sits along the frontline of the conflict.

"Units of the southern grouping of troops have completely liberated the settlement of Bogdanivka,” the Ministry said.

This reported capture comes after heavy fighting in the area.  Bakhmut, a city situated between Bogdanivka and Chasiv Yar, fell to Russian forces in May 2023 following a brutal battle.

Ukrainian officials haven't yet confirmed or denied Russia's claim regarding Bogdanivka. However, earlier this month, they acknowledged the "difficult and tense" situation around Chasiv Yar, reporting constant Russian shelling.

Chasiv Yar, with a pre-war population of around 13,000, has suffered extensive damage due to the fighting, leading to the displacement of most residents. (ILKHA)
