United States: Memphis block party shooting leaves 2 dead, 6 injured

According to the Memphis Police Department, officers arrived at the scene near Orange Mound Park to find two individuals deceased. One of the six injured remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

The department previously reported on social media platform X that the shooting occurred at an unpermitted gathering with an estimated 200 to 300 attendees.

This incident highlights the ongoing issue of gun violence in the United States. The country grapples with a mass shooting problem, defined as incidents with four or more wounded or killed, according to the Gun Violence Archive, a non-governmental organization.

This year alone, the organization has documented 120 such shootings.  Stricter gun control measures continue to face strong political opposition, leaving the root cause of these tragedies unaddressed. (ILKHA)
