The military helicopter carrying Ogolla and nine others went down shortly after takeoff near Cheptulel Boys Secondary School in West Pokot County. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by an air force team sent to the scene.

President William Ruto called Ogolla's death a "painful loss" and praised him as a valiant general. Ogolla, a former air force chief, had been promoted to lead the military by Ruto in 2023.

This incident follows a helicopter crash in June 2021 that killed at least 10 soldiers. (ILKHA)
