The Coast Guard was dispatched to the coasts of Izmir and Muğla following information about rubber boats carrying irregular migrants in the area. The teams managed to rescue the migrants, who were reportedly pushed back by Greek authorities.

Turkish authorities also detained five suspected migrant smugglers during the operations.

Following the completion of necessary procedures, the irregular migrants were handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for further action.

This incident adds to ongoing tensions between Türkiye and Greece over migration issues.  Ankara accuses Greece of violating international law by pushing back migrants seeking asylum in Europe. (ILKHA)
