In a statement, the Security Council underscored the necessity for increased efforts to aid the civilian population in Gaza, highlighting the imperative of unhindered access to humanitarian assistance on a large scale.

Furthermore, the Security Council expressed deep concern regarding Israeli airstrikes that resulted in the deaths of seven members of the World Central Kitchen, emphasizing the need for all parties to the conflict to respect the protected status of humanitarian workers and facilities under international law.

The Council demanded that all parties fully adhere to humanitarian notification and deconfliction mechanisms and promptly address any deficiencies in these mechanisms.

According to the statement, these attacks have brought the total number of humanitarian personnel killed in Gaza during the ongoing conflict to at least 224, marking a significant escalation in violence against aid workers.

The Security Council stressed the importance of accountability for these incidents, calling for a thorough, transparent, and comprehensive investigation into the World Central Kitchen incident that is made fully public. (ILKHA)
