According to WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, only 10 hospitals in Gaza are operating on a limited basis, leaving many patients without access to essential medical care.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Ghebreyesus emphasized the urgent need for Israel to accelerate the approval process for evacuating patients and allowing those in critical condition to receive necessary treatment.

He underscored the severity of the situation, revealing that over 3,400 patients, including 2,198 wounded individuals, have already been transferred abroad through the Rafah crossing.

Highlighting the gravity of the healthcare crisis, Ghebreyesus disclosed that approximately 9,000 patients in Gaza require immediate evacuation for life-saving medical services.

The WHO's call for action comes amidst ongoing challenges faced by Palestinians in accessing healthcare, exacerbated by the restricted movement and limited medical resources in the region. (ILKHA)
