The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) located the epicenter 56 kilometers southwest of Pyrgos at approximately 9:12 am local time.
While initial reports haven't indicated any injuries or damage, the tremors were felt as far away as the capital, Athens, and the southern island of Crete.
Greece, situated in a highly seismic zone, experiences frequent earthquakes. Fortunately, most cause minimal to no damage and casualties.
Authorities are currently assessing the potential tsunami risk along the Greek coastline. (ILKHA)
