The incident occurred around 1:30 am when a Singaporean-flagged container ship, identified as the "Dali," collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge carrying I-695 traffic. The ship reportedly caught fire before causing multiple vehicles to plunge into the Patapsco River below.

Local authorities are on the scene and rescue efforts are underway. The extent of injuries and the number of vehicles involved remain unclear.

The Maryland Transportation Authority closed all lanes on the bridge in both directions following the incident. Traffic is being diverted to I-95 and I-895.

Baltimore Mayor Brendon Scott confirmed his awareness of the situation and announced he would be heading to the bridge with other city and state officials. (ILKHA)
